Clarke Energy is proud to be at the forefront of the development of Senex Energy’s Atlas and Mimas natural gas expansion projects – three pivotal gas-fired power stations located in Queensland’s Surat Basin.
These projects, designed to power gas compression operations, are set to play a crucial role in enhancing natural gas delivery across Australia’s east coast, maximising the use of methane from coal gas by converting it into a reliable baseload power source. This innovative approach ensures an uninterrupted reliable and efficient energy supply to meet the growing demands of communities and businesses.
As the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor, Clarke Energy is leveraging its expertise to deliver innovative solutions for both projects. At the heart of the power stations are eleven INNIO’s Jenbacher JGS620 J101 3356 kW el. gas engines, renowned for their high efficiency, reliability and durability.
These engines were specifically chosen for their ability to provide a consistent power output while maintaining low emissions, aligning with Senex Energy’s commitment to operational efficiency and emissions intensity reduction. Jenbacher engines deliver maximum electrical efficiency and operational flexibility, which is essential for handling the dynamic energy requirements of the region.
The power stations also integrate an advanced battery energy storage system (BESS), providing critical backup power and enhancing short-term load management. The inclusion of the BESS ensures uninterrupted power supply during trips and optimises plant efficiency.
The combination of Jenbacher engines and BESS technology demonstrates Clarke Energy’s ability to deliver innovative hybrid power solutions that are both reliable and sustainable.
