CSM GIAS Choose Clarke Energy And INNIO To Deliver Turnkey Cogeneration Plant

  • CSM GIAS cogeneration facility will generate 1.2 MWe with an overall energy efficiency of 80%
  • Electricity production has been operational since Q4 2020
  • The project guarantees savings of 55% on the plant’s energy bill

After the previous success of the cogeneration project for Slama Frères, another subsidiary of the Slama Group, CSM GIAS has again opted for Clarke Energy for the supply, installation and maintenance of its cogeneration plant.

CSM GIAS has selected Clarke Energy, the leader in the Tunisian cogeneration market, for its energy efficiency projects. The full turnkey project will enable the CSM GIAS plant, located in Bouargoub, Nabeul, to reduce its operational costs and increase productivity in a highly competitive market.

The CSM GIAS cogeneration facility, started in Q4 2020 by Clarke Energy teams, is composed of an INNIO Jenbacher J416 gas engine, with a power of 1.2 MWe, and adapted to the Tunisian climate. The Clarke Energy and CSM GIAS teams worked together effectively to enable the engine to start while overcoming the constraints associated with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The combined heat and power (CHP) plant supplies the CSM GIAS plant with electricity, hot water and steam, achieving an overall efficiency of around 80%. This solution enables CSM GIAS to reduce its energy bill by 55%, and also to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 2,000 tonnes per year. After commissioning, Clarke Energy will maintain the CHP plant for a period of around 15 years.
