‘Developing Future Skills Award’ Win at Knowsley Business Awards 2019

November 22, 2019

Everybody at Clarke Energy is thrilled to have received the 'Developing Future Skills Award' at the Knowsley Business Awards 2019, held at Knowsley Safari Park. For this category the judges were looking for a business that promotes development opportunities in their sector and builds the skills of the workforce of the future.

At Clarke Energy we understand the value apprenticeships can bring to business which is why we invest time and money into our programme, which has been established for over 22 years. In this time, we have fine-tuned the scheme to ensure our apprentices receive the maximum level of knowledge and skills, not only through qualifications and training, but by developing the individual within our company. Many of our apprentices have worked they way up to senior technical and management roles within the company, highlighting the success of the apprentice scheme to Clarke Energy.

In addition to apprenticeships, Clarke Energy also look to support youth development in the Knowsley region. We have created links with local schools and colleges with tailored work experience and industry placements and offer mentoring of disadvantaged children. Clarke Energy also take part in STEM initiatives such as industry career talks with local schools. Earlier this year we invited female students to our Knowsley headquarters to promote women in engineering, showcasing the opportunities that are available to potential female engineers.

Lynsey Merryweather Group HR Director commented:

“Huge congratulations to the team at Clarke Energy on winning the Developing Future Skills Award. I’m really proud at how many people have worked as a team to develop superb development programmes for young people with an interest in engineering.”
