Technical Roles
CommissioningÂ
The commissioning team are highly qualified and experienced engineers in the field of Jenbacher Gas Engines, generators and CHP plant. All of the team have attended training at the dedicated facility in Jenbacher Austria, before becoming qualified to commission engines, along with numerous other manufacturer-based trainings. The training takes a minimum of 2 years. Most of the commissioning team are qualified HV Authorised Persons. We have two roles within the business. The first role is to support the Field Service team with the next level of fault finding and trouble-shooting and to offer training and development for the Field Service Engineers. The second role is to fully commission newly installed Jenbacher Gas Engine systems and associated balance of plant, providing basic customer training at the completion of the commissioning.
Cylinder HeadsÂ
At head office in the UK, Clarke Energy has a Cylinder Head line where refurbishment of Cylinders Heads takes place using different engineering techniques. Measuring equipment involves vernier callipers, depth gauge and micrometers (internal and external). Refurbishment involves disassembling, shotblasting, cleaning, a few different types of machining, and re-assembling/painting the Cylinder Head to look good as new.
EngineeringÂ
The main function of the Engineering department is to produce mechanical and electrical design packages to enable successful installation, commissioning, operation and service of generation only and Combined Heat & Power Plants. Providing input and support throughout the full life cycle of the project from concept to service.
ITÂ
Clarke Energy’s IT team provide 24x7x365 support to the business across 27 countries, ensuring our internal clients receive a first-class service. The IT team designs, implements and maintains a wide-area network, centrally managed from the UK, safeguarding our network with the latest technologies; including firewalls, routers, and remote access appliances. Our proven philosophy of providing local internet connections at each site, offers flexibility in the event of a disaster, allowing the migration of services to alternate locations, taking advantage of our off-site backups. Key group-wide services such as e-mail, is provided and managed from the UK Head Office, with all incoming and outgoing messages passing through a central anti-virus and anti-spam filter.
Overhaul and RepairÂ
The Overhaul & Repair team are responsible for the overhaul of Jenbacher gas engines. This includes minor and major overhauls. The minor overhauls are carried out in the field. Within the UK, there is a dedicated Overhaul & Repair Centre where the majority of major Overhauls can be completed however, these can sometimes be carried out in-situ. The team carries out engine exchanges using the Jenbacher long block exchange programme. We also lend assistance to Field Service areas where necessary and carry out repairs to major breakdowns.
PartsÂ
Clarke Energy UK have the largest store of INNIO approved parts in Europe. As spare parts availability is critical if engine downtime is to be kept to a minimum, Clarke Energy’s Parts department are responsible for ensuring the correct and most relevant parts are stored within our self-contained racking units and are available from our stock to ensure parts can be dispatched at short notice where required. Our team is also here to assist internal and external customers with any parts identification or supersession problems to ensure that the correct items are supplied as efficiently as possible to the highest quality service following our ISO9001 standards. With the expertise of our departments Export team, we can also ensure that customers operating engines within territories outside of the UK for which we are also the authorised distributor have access to the same levels of service.
ProjectsÂ
Clarke Energy provides added value to the customer by offering a comprehensive project management service for the installation of gas engines. At point of order Clarke Energy assigns a dedicated Project Manager to the installation. The Project Manager acts as a primary point of contact following the engine sales phase and will coordinate the engineering, installation and commissioning. Clarke Energy’s Project Managers have hands on experience and a comprehensive knowledge of Jenbacher gas engines. Clarke Energy’s Project Management team follows a structured approach to the delivery of all projects. The primary focus is to deliver a high-quality project on time and to budget whilst aiming to meet and exceed customer expectations.
SalesÂ
The Sales & Proposals department is responsible for the development and qualifying of incoming energy solution enquiries, producing technical proposals / tenders and fulfilling the annual sales budget. Business development and enquiry generation is done by the Sales Engineers who will develop the solution to a conceptual enquiry by carrying out site visits and feasibility studies. The Proposal team then develops this concept further putting together a technical / commercial offer for the customer. Working with Sales and the Engineering / Projects department to ensure a bespoke solution is derived specific to the customer’s requirements. The Sales and Proposals team discuss and explain the technicalities of our solution and commercial benefits with the customer to the point of contractual close and order placement.
Service and CommercialÂ
 As a Service Department, the main function is to maintain and support gas powered generation plants, whether that is Power Generation only, Combined Heat & Power or Tri-generation. We have the technical expertise to support the complete Jenbacher gas engine product portfolio and associated balance of plant. We maintain and promote long term customer relationships through our flexible commercial agreements. Across the Clarke Energy group, there are local Service teams providing support in each territory. In the UK, the Service Department is split into two teams, the Service Operations Team and the Aftermarket Sales Team to provide the following service functions to our internal and external customers.

Technical HelpdeskÂ
The Technical Helpdesk is responsible for sharing knowledge and service to the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania and Mozambique service teams. The Technical Helpdesk is the first point of contact for our product related service technical queries.
Technical TrainingÂ
Clarke Energy offers specialised training programmes for beginners and experienced service technicians alike. Clarke Energy trainers are all certified by INNIO and carry out trainings for both internal staff and customers. The main focus of our training programmes is in-depth product knowledge, applications knowledge and safety training. Our courses apply everything learned in both theoretical and practical sessions to make sure our staff are well prepared to meet the challenges of everyday operation.
Non- Technical Roles
FinanceÂ
The Clarke Energy Finance team deliver financial support to each territory across the Clarke Energy group, ensuring processes and controls are robust and regulations are followed with a strong emphasis on ensuring we meet our compliance criteria. Our Finance teams provide independent support to enable decision making and drive operational efficiencies. Covering everything from Transactional processing, Management and Financial Accounting, Treasury management, Internal audit, Acquisitions and Tax, this gives people looking for a career in Finance the opportunity to develop strong all-round skills and experience.
Human ResourcesÂ
The purpose of the Human Resource department is to provide support to the business to ensure that productivity is maximised through the effectiveness of its employees. Supporting not only the UK and Ireland, the HR team provide support to the wider Clarke Energy group. Responsibilities cover a wide range of activities but at the core is recruitment, employee performance, welfare, training and development, compensation, benefits and employment law compliance.
MarketingÂ
Clarke Energy’s Marketing department focuses on marketing strategy, analysis, research and communications. Global marketing and branding is coordinated by the Head Office and international teams have the responsibility for implementing these at local level. Marketing communications include both internal and external initiatives which includes the website content, intranet, exhibitions, events and conferences along with case studies and news. Marketing research and analysis includes evaluating global and regional trends, competitors and technologies. This information is then used to make business decisions, support the growth of the Company both organically and through potential acquisitions. The Marketing team also coordinates the Company’s interactions with professional and trade bodies.
PurchasingÂ
Clarke Energy’s Purchasing team strive to ensure we get the best value for the Company by selecting the right product on the basis of price, quality, and supplier reliability. We also endeavour to build partnerships and work with our suppliers to maximise our expertise and continually improve the service we provide. The department helps to source, introduce and manage direct and indirect suppliers into the Clarke Energy supply chain. Our suppliers provide a range of global products and services from OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) engine parts, to subcontractor services and office supplies.
QUENSHÂ
QUENSH is the business function within Clarke Energy UK which looks after the management systems for QUality, ENvironmental, Safety and Health and ensures that they exist in a fully Integrated Management System. The QUENSH team comprises of a number of professionals being certified with IEMA, IOSH, NEBOSH, LSS BB’s qualifications – which allows us all to ensure that Clarke Energy including ROI, South Africa and Nigeria has a fully Integrated Management System; certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
WarehouseÂ
In the UK the Warehouse department is responsible for controlling goods along with the receipting process for all Jenbacher parts. The warehouse is also responsible for picking, packing, dispatching and receiving parts to keep the UK fleet of Jenbacher engines operative and customer orders fulfilled. It is important within the warehouse that current processes run effectively and effectively.
