Lunéville cogeneration facility, France

This site, formerly a barn of a hospice, was originally built in the 18th century. The site has a heating room, a security centre and a combined heat and power unit for the hospital. The heating room consisted of 3 heaters of 1220 kW each (2 gas heaters and one mixed gas and fuel oil heater).

Because of security and reliability reasons ELYO (operator of the site) had decided to replace the old engine and the alternator with a Jenbacher combined heat and power unit.

The produced thermal energy is used by the hospital of Luneville (water and heating) and the electrical energy is entirely sold on to EDF.

The new Jenbacher module is perfectly integrated into the installations of the site. The contract offers 96% availability and has run at 97%+ for 2006.

The equipment is constantly reviewed by a system of telemonitoring via Internet.
