Delivering Sustainable Power from Landfill Gas

Clarke Energy has successfully commissioned a Jenbacher J320 containerised generator unit for AB Lime in Southland, New Zealand, marking another milestone in Clarke Energy’s commitment to providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable power solutions across Australasia
Located approximately 3 km from Winton, AB Lime’s landfill site captures biogas and converts it into renewable energy. The new Jenbacher J320, supplied and commissioned by Clarke Energy, supports AB Lime’s vision of environmental stewardship and sustainable waste-management practices.
Plug-and-Play Power Generation Solution
The Jenbacher J320 containerised package is a fully integrated plug-and-play energy solution, engineered for optimal performance and ease of deployment.
The unit is housed in an acoustically treated, weatherproof container and includes:
- Jenbacher genset – generating 1067KW el,
- Roof-mounted air radiator
- Exhaust silencer
- Dedicated Control-room
- 415 V generator circuit breaker
- LV power-distribution and control systems
This configuration allows rapid installation and reliable operation in remote environments while maintaining high efficiency and low emissions.
Comprehensive Support from Commissioning to Operation
Beyond supply and installation support, Clarke Energy commissioned the equipment, followed by operator training to AB Lime’s operations team, ensuring that the Jenbacher system runs safely and efficiently.
The Clarke Energy engineering team managed the commissioning, leveraging their deep technical expertise in Jenbacher gas engines and extensive experience in landfill-to-energy and biogas power generation projects.
“At Clarke Energy, we pride ourselves on delivering complete solutions that do not end at installation. Our local engineers know the product inside and out; ensuring each Jenbacher engine operates safely, efficiently, and reliably from day one.
We remain committed to supporting AB Lime throughout its operational life, ensuring consistency, reliability, and exceptional after-sales service every step of the way,” said Uzma Hayat, Regional Sales Manager NZ.
