Queen Alexandra Hospital CHP Plant

An Aerial View of Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth

This natural gas combined heat and power (CHP) installation has been installed as part of the major redevelopment works being undertaken at Queen Alexandra Hospital by Carillion Healthcare.

The plant consists of two GE Jenbacher 12 cylinder gas engines, each rated at 1,633kWe. The heat recovery system is split, providing a total of over 1.2MWth in the form of low temperature hot water and 1.5MWth as steam.

Clarke Energy supplied and commissioned these engines and our in-house engineering design department provided the installation design specifications to which Carillion Healthcare worked.
