In engelza: Alinta Energy’s Newman Power Station Taking Shape with Clarke Energy

Clarke Energy is delivering the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) for the new gas fired power generation facility comprising of 14 INNIO Jenbacher J624 gas engines to improve the efficiency and flexibility of Alinta Energy’s gas-fired Newman Power Station in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.

The additional 60MW of gas-fired generation will support Alinta Energy’s Pilbara operations, including the Chichester Solar Gas Hybrid project (comprising 60MW of solar photovoltaic generation and 60kms of transmission line), when complete.

Significant progress has been made since project commencement in February 2021.

Bulk earthworks were completed in March building up the pad for the power station with more than 10,000 cubic metres of bulk fill put in place.

In April and May 2021 underground services were undertaken involving more than 5km of conduits and installation of 2km of Earth cable.  Subsequently concrete works were completed in July 2021 with Powerhouse 1 and 2 completed in June and July respectively.  The concrete on the low voltage switch room footings set in mid July with the high voltage switch room footings cast a week later.

Civil works were completed in August with construction underway on structures and buildings with installation of the first Powerhouse and HV building positioned.

As the design and construct project progresses, stay tuned for further updates
