Clarke Energy and INNIO Participate at 18th DTG Exhibition in Bangladesh

Clarke Energy’s offices in Bangladesh alongside INNIO Jenbacher participated in 18th Dhaka International Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition, held from 1– 4 February 2024.  The event, which was held in International Convention Centre Bashundhara, Dhaka, saw a huge number of entrepreneurs and corporates showing interest in our natural gas and hydrogen to power solutions using INNIO’s Jenbacher gas engine technology.

 Abhijit Rajguru – Deputy General Manager (Marketing & Business Development);
“Recent reports state that in Bangladesh, about 59 percent of energy demand is met from natural gas. Natural gas reserve is not that substantial, but its production and consumption are the highest among the available resources. Moreover, the government has already started importing LNG to meet increasing gas demand. The energy demand is also being met by importing electricity from India. In addition to use of natural gas and other fossil fuels to meet the energy demand within the country, it is imperative that the available biogas potential is also harnessed. Biogas systems use anaerobic digestion to recycle organic materials, turning them into biogas, which contains both energy (gas), and valuable soil products (liquids and solids). Anaerobic digestion already occurs in nature, landfills, and some livestock manure management systems, but can be optimized, controlled, and contained using an anaerobic digester. Biogas contains roughly 50-70 percent methane, 30-40 percent carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other gases. The liquid and solid digested material, called digestate, is frequently used as a soil amendment. After biogas is captured, it can be used in gas engines to provide a clean, renewable, and reliable source of baseload power. Like natural gas, biogas can also be used as a source of peak power that can be rapidly ramped up. Using stored biogas limits the amount of methane released into the atmosphere and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. He added that Clarke Energy’s offices in Bangladesh are also contemplating on use of hydrogen for natural gas blending projects, with blended gas being used in existing power generation installations, all with the intent of reducing carbon emissions”.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the visitors and for making our participation a success!

The exhibition gave us the opportunity to present the latest developments in Jenbacher gas engine technology and in showcasing our EPC edge on captive power, cogeneration, and trigeneration applications including high quality after-sales-service.

We hope you enjoyed your visit and have received the answers you were looking for.
