Jenbacher Type 3 Gas Engines
High-efficiency, ‘Ready for H₂’* engines providing 400 – 1,155 kW of resilient, lower-emission power across diverse industries.
Efficient, Durable and Reliable Performance
Since its introduction in 1988, INNIO Group’s Jenbacher Type 3 engine platform stands for reliability, efficiency, and durability in its class. Designed for outputs between 400 and 1,155 kW, the Type 3 delivers excellent performance in combined heat and power (CHP) and other distributed energy applications. Now featuring the advanced Type 3F design, this generation offers higher efficiency, reduced emissions, and improved serviceability, while maintaining its proven robustness.
High Efficiency
The new Type 3F design provides up to a 2 percentage point efficiency boost compared to earlier models, delivering electrical efficiency levels of up to 43.2% when operating on pipeline gas.
Lower Emissions
Enhanced combustion technology significantly reduces supports reducing total hydrocarbon (THC) emissions, supporting in alignment with environmental compliance and a lower ecological footprint.
Convenient Upgrade
The latest 3F technology is retrofittable to most of the existing Jenbacher Type 3 engines*, allowing operators to benefit from performance improvements without replacing their current units.
* Recommended during minor or major overhaul
Future-Proof Fuel Flexibility
Capable of operating on natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, or special gases, the Type 3F also includes a “Ready for H₂”* option, enabling conversion to hydrogen operation in the future.
Technical Highlights
The Jenbacher Type 3 integrates advanced mechanical and electronic systems for superior performance and uptime:
• Proven V70° configuration with enhanced cylinder head and combustion chamber design.
• Long service intervals—up to 80,000 operating hours before major overhaul.
• Low fuel consumption with enhanced efficiency across varied gas types.
• Modular system for simplified servicing and integration.
• “Ready for H₂”* for future low-carbon energy transition.
