Make an Impact in Proposals & Engineering

As a Senior Proposals Engineer, you will take ownership of proposal development, ensuring that our bids are not only technically sound but also aligned with customer needs and commercial goals. You’ll play a critical role in securing new projects across sectors like CHP, BESS, gas peaking, hydrogen, and data centres.

Additionally, you’ll act as a mentor within the team, contributing to continuous improvement across our proposals function.

  • Interpret customer enquiries, RFQs, and technical specifications
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Project teams throughout the bid lifecycle
  • Organise and manage site visits, supplier meetings, and subcontractor discussions
  • Guide and support Sales Engineers during customer engagements
  • Identify and mitigate risks—both technical and commercial
  • Prepare and review supplier and subcontractor RFQs
  • Act as the primary customer contact for proposal-related discussions and clarifications
  • Ensure a smooth transition of successful bids to the Project Delivery team
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to senior leadership
  • Drive process improvements within the proposals department
  • Champion compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards
  • Provide mentorship and technical coaching to junior proposals team members

What You’ll Bring to the Team

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical proposals or engineering sales
  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering background
  • Proven ability to lead complex bid development
  • Skilled in interpreting technical specs and negotiating commercial terms
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management abilities
  • Strategic mindset with a solid grasp of risk and commercial value
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Desirable Experience:

  • Degree or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience working on CHP, BESS, hydrogen, peaking plants, or data centre projects
  • Previous experience mentoring or managing engineers
