En Anglais: Trigeneration at Queensland University of Technology, Science & Technology Precinct & Community Hub

Queensland University of Technology Science & Technology Precinct & Community HubClarke Energy will supply a GE Jenbacher natural gas engine to Siganto & Stacey for the Queensland University of Technology’s new $230 million Science and Technology Precinct and Community Hub as part of Leighton Contractors redevelopment of the Gardens Point campus. Siganto & Stacey will install the engine and receive operations and maintenance training from Clarke Energy.

Generation Capacity

834kW of high efficiency electrical power will be provided by a GE Jenbacher gas engine. A multi-energy exhaust fired absorption chiller (provided by others) will utilise the exhaust gas and hot water to provide chilled water for the air conditioning system. The gas powered generator will be installed on the top floor of one of the 10-storey towers and will be required to operate in grid parallel mode.

  • Client: Siganto & Stacey
  • Capacity: 834kWe

Principal Equipment

GE Jenbacher JMS 316 GS-N.L. combined, heat and power generating set rated at 834kWe, 50Hz, NOx3, full operation. The engine will be coupled to an exhaust gas fired absorption chiller and an exhaust gas selective catalyst reduction (SCR) system.

General Description

The Science and Technology Precinct is registered for Green Star ratings in ‘Education Design’ and ‘As Built’, and is aiming for a 5-star Green Star rating. Achieving this will make it one of the highest rated ‘green’ buildings in the Brisbane Central Business District.

When completed in 2012, the 10-level, two-tower facility will house up to 500 scientists, postgraduate research students and teaching staff.
