Στα αγγλικά: SAS Agrigaz Agricultural Biogas Upgrading Plant, France

In 2009, 40 farmers from the commune of Vire in Normandie and its surrounding areas came together to create an innovative and unifying project to promote collective anaerobic digestion.

It has taken over 10 years to define the project, to find the land, to obtain authorisations and to finalise the project that now produce biogas from local agricultural wastes. The solution to treat waste was clearly identified, however the one for utilising biogas was not so easy to choose.

After careful consideration and ambient data analysis, SAS Agrigaz decided to upgrade it biogas in order to produce biomethane. The concentrated biogas or biomethane produced is close to 100% renewable methane, which can then be injected into the French national gas network (GrDF).

Clarke Energy stood out from the competition to win the project by offering a modular and tailor-made solution. With an industrial approach and reliable TPI product; Clarke Energy ensured a commitment to performance obligations over the entire contract period. Service is at the heart of our business ethos and responsiveness and availability are the key success factors of Clarke Energy projects.

For the Agrigaz project, Clarke Energy is responsible for the design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of its biogas to biomethane (B2B) membrane purification platform. 515Nm3/h of biogas is dehydrated, desulphurised, filtered, compressed and finally purified to allow a production of 250 Nm3/h of biomethane. This green gas, which meets GRDF’s requirements, will be injected into the national gas distribution grid. Clarke Energy will manage the site‘s maintenance to sustain and guarantee performances and financial results required by SAS Agrigaz and its 40 associated farmers.

“We have appointed Clarke Energy for the implementation of our biogas purification facility. After a difficult start due to the COVID health crisis, Clarke Energy delivered and built the turnkey unit and supported us until commissioning was completed. Since then, we propose a compliant biomethane which is injected into the GrDF grid. The first assessments carried out being very encouraging, we asked them to realize the conduct of our facility to ensure the long-term performance. We plan now extending this unit with the addition of a CO2 recovery system also supplied by Clarke Energy ”
