South Australian Premier Jay Weatherill met with Clarke Energy’s Alex Marshall, Group Marketing & Compliance Manager today in London. Clarke Energy is a member of the South Australian Club – a special group established by the South Australian Government to encourage investment in the state. The club includes members from a cross section of high profile blue chip companies and significant players in the region.
Premier Weatherill opened the meeting at the Delaunay outlining the strong historical ties between the UK and South Australia. He went on to highlight his aims for “strong business and strong government” recognising the integral role both play in sustainable development. Key topics of discussion included conventional and non-conventional fossil fuels, agriculture and manufacturing. Premier Weatherill discussed his desire to encourage companies which offered both a product and a service to help  balance the South Australian economy.
This fits very well with Clarke Energy’s business model that supplies, engineers, installs and maintains gas-fuelled power plants. The company relocated its Australian headquarters to Thebarton, Adelaide from its original base in Melbourne in 2006. The company employs around 120 people in Australia, and supplies a range of low-carbon and renewable projects in the distributed generation, cogeneration and remote power applications. The company has recently commissioned sewage gas-fuelled engines at the Bolivar Waste Water Treatment plant near Adelaide and announced a recent large project win as part of the APLNG coal seam gas to LNG scheme in Queensland. Clarke Energy is a significant contributor to the economy of South Australia and would like to thank the South Australia Club for the invitation to participate in this gathering.
